Myanmar Trip

Myanmnar was the first destination of interview when i came back to work from leaves. 27 February to 1 March. Team consists of School of Medicine Dean, O&G Department Head, School of Engineering & IT Dean & Senior Asst. Registrar (all guys) & myself. Googled & found out that no boadband services (what???) and no roaming. Myanmar was known as the land of ruby. they have mine in Mogok, where precious gems were mined at its source. unfortunately, i'm not a stone-person (but did bought a very nice mix stones bracelet. rare at home. cost me USD25. worth it though)

what bothers me the most is leaving adelia. barely 3 months old and expressed milk stock is not sufficient. just lucky that at this very young age babies are not yet affected by separation with their mommies. tis' one of the challange one working mum has to endeavor.

interesting facts to share:
1. drive right hand side vehicle
2. labor extensive country, very minimum usage of machine.
3. better to use USD, change it to kyat, you'll be poor
4. no traffic jam in Yangon. mild one in Mandalay.
5. men wore sarong
6. in Mandalay, Tatmadaw propaganda was put on huge signboards (on anti outside influence)
7. people are humble & look happy (no stress)
8. people there look younger than their actual age. someone i thought was 30 was actually 45!
9. is a no loan country. learned that people buy car or land , cash. no use bringing your credit card here for 1, not usage, secondly, what to buy here...
10. abundant motorcyclist. we were told those riding bike were mostly senior government officers.
11. lots of good artists - Bogyoke Aung San market was like an art gallery.
12. also its a tips country, at the airport in particular.. but if you are being generous, just let them carry your things at the airport. what's more, they accept Malaysian Ringgit! (siap demand lagi)

despite the hectic schedule & busy emptying milk supply, it had been a very very good experience for me. next stop? bangladesh.
